Founded and led by Darren Bevan, Charles James Interiors creates elegant, comfortable spaces that balance beauty with everyday practicality. From the first idea to the final styling layer, each decision is considered and every detail has purpose.

Meet the founder
Founder & Principal Designer
Australian-born and raised, Darren began his career in nursing before transitioning into international aviation. Travelling the world—and experiencing its architecture, hotels, art and cultures—deepened a lifelong passion for interiors and shaped his distinctive, collected approach to design.
After studying with the British College of Interior Design, Darren founded Charles James Interiors to create elegant, individual homes that feel considered, comfortable and entirely personal to the people who live in them.
Across 15 clients in the UK and internationally, Darren has led residential projects ranging from individual rooms to substantial whole-home transformations. Two international clients each invested approximately £200,000 in their projects, while a current project has a total client spend of £100,000–£150,000. Every commission is personally led by Darren, from the first conversation through to the finishing details.
Beyond the studio, his enduring interests include travel, antiques, art and everything interior design.

Our design fees
Every project is different. Our fees reflect the time, expertise and detail required to create a considered, cohesive interior—from the first layout and colour direction through to sourcing, design coordination and final styling.

Where not included within the fixed design package
Wherever possible, anticipated professional time is converted into one agreed fixed fee before work begins.
Design packages normally include up to three reasonable rounds of revisions. Any additional work is agreed first.
“From” prices reflect a straightforward service. Complexity, bespoke joinery and connected spaces are assessed individually.

A complete visual direction is developed through layouts, materials, colour and carefully sourced pieces.
Details are reviewed and resolved before the design moves into implementation.
